Galway Bay Seafoods on RTE1’s Nationwide

John and Noel Holland of Galway Bay Seafoods will feature on Friday’s edition of Nationwide on RTE1.

As part of the RTE Local Heroes season Nationwide has traveled the country to meet with businesses that are expanding and looking to the future with positivity.

Galway Bay Seafoods was founded as a small business in 1950. Then in 1969 John Senior bought the factory on Galway docks and went into the seafood processing business, today its ever-growing wholesale business now exports around the world.

Not only have the John and Noel been with the business from an early age many of their staff have followed family into the business and are an integral part of Galway Bay Seafood’s.

Another key member of staff is Andrew Keady who has worked for Galway Bay Seafood’s since he was a teenager and his father worked there before him.

The company now employs approximately 30 people; some of those are with Galway Bay Seafoods over 40 years.

Commenting on local employment at Galway Bay Seafoods, Operations Manager, Andrew Keady says, “We are a local company and we provide employment to the local community, historically that’s how it’s been done, and that’s how we do it now.”

Speaking on Galway Bay’s appearance on Nationwide, Noel Holland said, “Appearing on Nationwide is a great honor for Galway Bay Seafoods. The current climate has made business challenging but the company’s culture of hard work is now paying dividends. This is evident in the awards we’ve received, in the high level of customer satisfaction and now by national recognition by RTE’s Nationwide.’’

Although tradition is strong in the business, Galway Bay Seafoods has always adapted and changed to keep ahead of the pace and to satisfy the needs of our customers.

Nationwide airs at 7pm on Friday night RTE1.
